Hilda Ruff Somers
ELON — Mrs. Hilda Ruff Somers, 77, of 2423 Boone Road, passed away early Friday morning, Sept. 23, 2011, at Duke University Medical Center.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, 2011, at Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery on Ashland Road in Caswell County.
Hilda was born in Bryson City on April 23, 1934, a daughter of Harrison Jack and Mamie Medford Ruff. She was a retired boarder from Glen Raven Mills. She was a member of Ossipee Baptist Church and was a loving mother, grandmother, and greatgrandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George G. Somers, in 1981.
She is survived by her son, George “Butch” Somers and wife Tammy, of Elon; her daughters, Evelyn Massey and husband Brian of Yanceyville, and Elaine Mitchell and husband Brian of Mebane; her grandchildren, Erin and husband Rusty, Landon, Justin, Kaley, Kelly, Braxton, Brandon, and Bryson; and her great-grandchildren, Addison Grace and Reagan Elizabeth.
There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home. The family is receiving friends throughout the weekend at the home of Butch and Tammy Somers, 2457 Boone Road in the Cherry Grove Community of Caswell County.
Boone-Reynolds Funeral Service in Eden is serving the family of Mrs. Somers.
