GRAHAM — Mrs. Nannie Porterfield Somers, 87, of 108 Eastway Lane, Graham, died at 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013 at Alamance Regional Medical Center after four days of critical illness.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of Howard I. Somers, deceased
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Rich (Gary) of Burlington and Susan Hughes of Wilmington; son, David Somers (Linda) of Caswell County; sister, Nellie P. Bowman of Burlington; sister-in-law, Margaret Porterfield of Burlington; grandchildren, John Somers, Melanie Ball (Brice), Jennifer Allen, Gerry Barnett, Doug Rich, Amy Russell (Butch) and Kendra Dannar (Michael); greatgrandchildren, Jacob Allen, Ariana Allen, Connor Rich, Nicholas Russell and Garrett Dannar; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Berta Porterfield; sisters, Frances DurhamWells, Ruth Rascoe and Elsie Whedbee; and brothers, Ray Porterfield and Allen Porterfield.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, in the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington by the Rev. Farron Duncan. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Burial will follow at McCray Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
At other times, the family will be at the residence of a daughter, Nancy Rich, 310 Colonial Drive, Burlington, N.C.
