BURLINGTON — Dennis Ray Iseley, 68, a resident of the Center for Long Term Care at the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in Durham and formerly of 2110 Basin Creek Road, Burlington, died Sunday, August 28, 2011 after six months of declining health.
Mr. Iseley was born in Guilford County. He was the husband of the late Judy Garrison Iseley and the son of the late Elmer Ross Iseley and the late Sallie Apple Iseley.
Mr. Iseley was a 1960 graduate of Altamahaw-Ossipee High School and attended Elon College. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the U.S. Army. He received two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. In July of 2011, his unit received a Presidential Citation for a battle they fought in 1966.
Mr. Iseley was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church and a former employee of Burlington Industries and Waste Management.
He is survived by his sister, Sue I.Tipton and her husband, Laurence, of Broadway, N.C.; a niece, Lara Elizabeth Tipton, of Greensboro; a nephew, William Ross Tipton and his wife, Lindsay Rose Tipton of Sanford ; a greatnephew, Madden Thomas Tipton; and many cousins and close friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Estella Iseley.
The family will receive friends at Rich and Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington, Wednesday, August 31, from 10 until 11 a.m. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the Rich and Thompson Chapel. Officiating will be the Rev. Norman Whitney.
