BURLINGTON — Mrs. Helen Phillips Holland, 87, of 821 Kenwood Drive, Burlington, passed away at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 surrounded by many loving family members.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of James Clayton “Dink” Holland and the daughter of George M. Phillips Sr. and Eva Pennington Phillips, both deceased. She was a lifelong member of Glencoe Baptist Church and a homemaker.
In addition to her husband of the home, survivors include three sons, Jimmy Holland and wife Pam of Anderson, S.C. and Bobby Holland and wife Patti and Jeff Holland and wife Penny, all of Burlington; one brother, the Rev. George M. “Jack” Phillips Jr. of Burlington; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by six sisters and three brothers, Erma Dell Neal, Faye Phillips, Delbert Phillips, Opal Greeson, Pearl Terrell, Billie Phillips, Mexie Wyrick, Jean Withrow and Carey Phillips.
The funeral service will be conducted
at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 10 a.m. by the Rev. Nash A. Odom, the Rev. George M. “Jack” Phillips and the Rev. Jeanne R. Neal. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. At other times they will be at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Textile Heritage Museum in Glencoe Village, 1403 East Webb Avenue, Burlington, N.C. 27217.
