    BURLINGTON — Mrs. Helen S. Mitchell, 93, of Burlington, died at Alamance Health Care Center on Monday, June 11, 2012, at 8:50 a.m.

    A native of Caswell County, she was the wife of the late Floyd H. Mitchell and the daughter of Jerry Silas Smith and Ethel Mae Warren Smith, both deceased. She was a retired cosmetologist at Super X Drug and a member of Davis Street United Methodist Church.

    Survivors include two daughters, Sue Mitchell Petree and husband John of Staley and Rebecca Mitchell Barbee and husband, the late Richard Barbee, of Efland; five grandchildren, Rick Barbee Jr. and wife Kerri of Aliso Viejo, Calif., Jim Barbee and wife Laura of Boone, Sandy Cain and husband Woody of Concord, Kathy Hoernke and husband Scott of McKinney, Texas and Debbie Dean of Morrisville; 10 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Harold Smith.

    She was preceded in death by a brother, Banks Smith; and two sisters, Sue Smith Lindley and Christine Pickard.

    The funeral service will be conducted in the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Friday, June 15, 2012, at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Ellen McCubbin with the family receiving friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.
