Swannie  Belle Shoffner Johnson 
    MUNDARING, WESTERN AUSTRALIA — Swannie  Belle Shoffner Johnson , passed away at Yallambee Hostel, Mundaring, Western Australia on Feb. 27, 2006, at the age of 87 years.
    Swannie  was born on April 22, 1918 to Thomas J. and Nora Greeson Shoffner on a farm in Guilford County, the third of nine children.
    She is survived by sisters, Elizabeth Staley, Maggie Coble, Mazie Coulman, and Osa Rea McAdoo; and brothers, Richard, Thomas, and Leonard Shoffner. Another sister, Georgie May, is deceased.
    Swannie  was a long time resident of the Mt. Hope Community. She married Clinton "Johnny" Johnson , a U.S. Navy pilot, in Miami Florida in 1944, and they resided in California, North Carolina, and Western Australia. Swannie  lived for the past 14 years in Australia with her daughter, Mary Ann Powell and granddaughter, Holly. She was a hair dresser, beautician, pilot, U.S. Forestry Service fire spotter, nurse, wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her family and friends, husband, children and grandchild, cigarettes, ham biscuits, sherry and bluegrass music. She had a remarkable life and will be sadly missed and forever loved.
    She is survived by children, Thomas Johnson  of Cairns, Queensland, Australia and Mary Ann Powell of Darlington, Western Australia, and granddaughter, Holly Powell.
    A memorial service will be held at Mt. Hope United Church of Christ on Saturday, June 24, 2006 at 11 a.m. Swannie  will be placed to rest beside her beloved husband, Johnny, at Guilford Memorial Gardens.
    Memorials may be made to Hospice.
