Patricia Sue Barbour Oakley, also known as Ms. Sue and by her family as Nanie, 72, passed away suddenly on Monday, May 23, 2022 at Alamance Regional Medical Center.  She was born on September 14, 1949 in Danville, VA to the late Richard David Barbour and Zula Dillon Barbour and was the wife of 28 years to Donnie Leon Oakley who survives.

Sue was a retired Early Childhood Educator who enjoyed working with children.  She loved reading, yard sales, and working with her plants.  Her family called her the yard sale queen and the plant lady. Sue loved spending time at the beach with family and friends.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be dearly missed.

Survivors other than her husband, Donnie Oakley include her children, Tammy Lim and husband Johnny, Pansy Hawes and husband Tom, Sam Overstreet and wife Wendy, Chris Oakley, and Donnie Oakley and wife Tonya; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; a sister, Claudia Childress, and several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Thomas, Garnett, Wayne and Larry Barbour; and a sister, Christine Roach.

The family is planning a celebration of life at a later date.
