Charles "Ed" Foster

Charles Edward “Ed” Foster, 91, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at The Oaks of Alamance surrounded by his family. He was born on October 7, 1932 in Alamance County to the late Sterling Montgomery Foster and Nellie Mae Alcon Foster, and was the husband of 67 years to the late Peggy Knowles Foster who died in 2020.

Ed retired along with his wife as the owners and operators of Foster’s Grill in Reidsville. They operated the restaurant for many years and Ed was known to have never met a stranger. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan, he enjoyed baseball, football, basketball, Nascar and camping, but his true love was being an auctioneer.

He is survived by his brother, Jimmy “Jim” Foster and wife Janet; sisters-in-law, Kay Foster and Josephine Talley; and several nieces and nephews. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and siblings, Wayne Foster and Margaret Clapp and her husband Bill.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the staff and nurses at The Oakes of Alamance and the Liberty Hospice staff, for all their loving support and care that was shown to Ed during his illness and to the wonderful support that was shown to the family.

The graveside service to celebrate Ed’s life will be held at 11:00am Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Reidsville by Pastor Darrell Massey. Ed will be available for viewing on Saturday at the cemetery, 45 mins prior to the service. You may also view and pay your respects on Friday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory from 12 noon to 5pm.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Liberty Hospice, 3414 N. Duke Street, Durham, NC 27704. You may send condolences to www.lowefuneralhome.com. v v256, Charles Edward “Ed” Foster
