Billie Anne Holleman
SEQUIM, Wash. — Billie Anne Younger Holleman passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Thursday evening, Feb. 28, 2008. She was born July 26, 1936, in Gibsonville, where her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. William Coffin lovingly raised her. Anne graduated from Gibsonville High School.
She went on to have a successful career in nursing, achieving a master’s degree in nursing administration. She worked at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro from 1959 to 1965. She also worked at the hospital in Fayetteville from 1967 to 1969. When she moved to California, she was the head nurse at the Woodland Hills Hospice Unit and later worked for many years at the Motion Picture Hospital in Woodland Hills. In 2002 she moved to the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State, where she worked at Olympic Memorial Hospital until she retired after 50 years of nursing.
She is survived by her daughter, Angela D. (Jeremy) Spradlen; a stepdaughter, Teya (Rick) Johnston; a brother, Euell "Buzz" (Suzanne) Griggs of Gibsonville; sisters, Betty Fitch of Graham and Dorris (Charles) Anderson of Danville, Va.; an aunt, Doris "Dot" (Walter) Ewanus of Ellicott City, Md.; and several nieces and nephews.
Anne was a generous, caring and kind person. Her soft-spoken gentleness had a positive influence on all who encountered her. She loved animals and we ask that memorial contributions be made on her behalf to Peninsula Friends of Animals, 257509 Hwy. 101, Port Angeles, Wash. 98362 or a charity of choice.
A memorial service will be held for family and friends at a date to be announced.
