Beverly JoAnn Morton Qualls Crnkovic
   MEBANE — Beverly passed away on Sept. 3, 2010, after a long and courageous fight with cancer.

   A native of Burlington, she was the daughter of the late Pattie Pauline Kimmer Morton and Jasper (Jack) Richardson Morton Jr., both previously of Albemarle and Burlington.

   She was of the Baptist faith and a member of the First Baptist Church of Burlington.

   She was preceded in death by her beloved husbands, Ronald (Ronnie) Gibbs Qualls and Ralph Crnkovic Jr. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Richard Colbert Morton, and a sister, Pattie Sue Morton Isley.

   She had four stepchildren and three great-grandchildren.

   Beverly enjoyed showing her bulldogs, of which she finished many champions and had two Best of Shows, many Best of Breed, group placements and Best of Opposite Sex. She was a former member of the Alamance Kennel Club, the Piedmont North Carolina Bulldog Club and the Bulldog Club of America.

   She also loved playing Duplicate Bridge and was a Silver LifeMaster.Shewasamember of the Depot Bridge Club, the Burlington Bridge Club and the Alamance Bridge Club, and was a Bridge manager and director. Some of her favorite Bridge partners in Burlington were Tom Glascock, Carol Davis, Tim Fairchild, Charles Gilliam, Jacky Lee, Lois Sims, Carol Engin, Bruce Moser, Lila Moyer, Rita Arentte and Len Rickard, of Knoxville, Tenn. She traveled and competed in sectional, regional and national Bridge tournaments throughout the U.S., including Hawaii.

   She will miss her closest schoolmates as they have been so supportive down this lonely road. Her soulmates were few, Dot Lindley, Sue Stanford, Barbara Perry and Kaye King, friends one and all.

   She also was a previous member of the former Ladies Exchange Club of Burlington, the Junior Woman’s Club and the Dogwood Garden Club.

   Beverly wanted to especially thank the Alamance Regional Cancer Center, Dr. Choski, Dr. Fayed Judali and Dr. Sankar for their excellent care throughout her illness, and to Timothy Ray Fairchild for his care, and the excellent care of Ralph Crnkovic and her mother, Pattie P. Morton.

   A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane.

   A short service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, at the Alamance Mausoleum. The Rev. James L. Rosser will preside over the service.

   Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Alamance-Caswell or the First Baptist Church of Burlington, N.C. Please no flowers.
