Shelby Carolyn Simmons Williamson
BURLINGTON - Shelby Carolyn Simmons Williamson, age 81, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at the Hospice Home after several months of failing health.
She was a native of Rockingham County and was the daughter of the late Benjamin Lazarus Simmons and the late Willie Brown Simmons. Shelby worked for many years as a bridal consultant at Koury’s Dress shop. She was a member of Altamahaw Baptist church and was the church pianist for many years. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her daughter, Christie Tucker and husband, Paul, of Graham; granddaughter, Brittany Tucker; a brother, Leon Simmons and wife, Peggy, of Burlington; and her nieces, Tammy Vaughn, Melanie Perry, Tasha Addison, Kim Gammon, Kelly Davis and June Parrish. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, William Derec Roache; a brother, Freddie Brown Simmons; and a sister, Sandra Grey.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Altamahaw Baptist Church by Dr. Steve Tucker. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Twin Lakes and Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell for their kind and compassionate care of Shelby over the courses of her illness.
