Martha “Frances” Simmons
BURLINGTON — Martha “Frances” Simmons, of Burlington, died Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Alamance Regional Medical Center at age 80.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Otis E. and Bessie Tate Simmons; a sister, Betty S. Culberson; and a brother, O. E. Simmons Jr.
Frances was the dear sister of Catherine Simon of Hummelstown, Pa., Shirley Toadvine of Florence, Ky., John Simmons of Apex, N.C. and Carl Simmons of Raleigh, N.C. She was a devoted aunt to 12 nieces and nephews and to 30 great-nieces and greatnephews. She is also survived by three aunts, one uncle and numerous cousins.
Miss Simmons was a graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne College and a long-time employee of Burlington Mills and Kayser-Roth. She attended Concord Christian Church.
Services will be conducted at Concord Christian Church in Caswell County on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 11 a.m. with interment in the church cemetery. The Rev. Bud Wrenn of Integrity Community
Church will officiate.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Friday from 6 until 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideons International, Caswell County Camp, P.O. Box 1411, Yanceyville, N.C. 27379 or to World Gospel Mission, P.O. Box 948, Marion, IN 46952.
