Edith Louise Kernodle Rudd
 

 
 BURLINGTON — Edith Louise Kernodle Rudd passed away Sunday, April 15, 2012 at White Oak Manor after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s with her family by her side.
 
 She was born in Alamance County on January 8, 1928 to the late Walter Lawrence Kernodle and Bertha Loy Kernodle and was the wife of the late George Washington Rudd, Jr.
 
 Edith worked in textiles all of her career and was of the Baptist Faith.
 
 Survivors include her daughter, Carol Aldridge and husband, Buddy of Burlington; her son, George Wayne Rudd of Whitakers, NC; granddaughters, Wendy Hinshaw and husband, Rodney and Melissa Aldridge, all of Burlington, Amanda Rudd and Amber Rudd of Whitakers, NC and great grandson, Jamie Hinshaw of Burlington. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers, Leonard Kernodle, Wilbur Kernodle, Melvin Kernodle and a sister, Minnie Lea Smithey.
 
 A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday,
 
April 18, 2012 at Alamance Memorial Park by the Rev. John Shields. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at Lowe Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, Carol Aldridge.
 
 The family expresses their appreciation to the staffs at Homeplace of Burlington and White Oak Manor for their special care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
