Iona  "Watha" Gosnell Rumley 


    MEBANE — Mrs. Iona  "Watha" Gosnell Rumley , 85, of the Presbyterian Home of Hawfields, Mebane, and formerly of North Broad Street, Burlington, died at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at 2 p.m.
    A native of Greenville, S.C., she was the wife of the late Everett Lea Rumley  Sr., and the daughter of Jay B. Gosnell  and Ruth Sides Gosnell , both deceased. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Burlington, a choir member, a children’s choir director, and very active with hospital visitation for church members. She sat with friends during hospital stays and kept children in her home for over 40 years.
    Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Kathy Morris and husband, Ross, of Concord; three sons, the Rev. Everett Lea Rumley  Jr. and wife, Sue, of Burlington, Mr. Dennis Rumley  and wife, Emily, of Burlington, and the Rev. Steve Rumley  and wife, Diane, of Cary; 12 grandchildren; and 21 greatgrandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at the First Church of the Nazarene in Burlington today, October 27, 2006, at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Everett Lea Rumley  Jr., and the Rev. Steve Rumley . Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.
    The family will receive friends at the First Church of the Nazarene today from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service. The body will remain at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington until taken to the church for the visitation and funeral service.
    Memorials may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene, 1410 Elder Way, Burlington, N.C. 27215.
