TOBACCOVILLE - Mary Ruth Spainhour Voss, 68, of Tobaccoville died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004. She was born June 21, 1936, to the late Samuel Alson and Mary Evelyn Pratt Spainhour. Ruth was a 1954 graduate of King High School and was an active member of Jefferson Church of Christ, where she had taught Sunday school. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Lewis Voss, in 2000. Surviving are a daughter, Lisa (Jimmy) Hancock of Crockett, Va.; a son, Ron Voss (Janis) of Taylorsville, Ind.; a grandson, Jonathan Raines of Crockett, Va.; five stepgrandchildren, David Hancock of Wytheville, Va., Rosella Coalson of Crockett, Va., Jake Hancock of Galax, Va., Adam Hancock of Hillsville, Va., and Mary Hancock of Crockett, Va.; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; a sister, Nancy Ann (Bill) Nelson of Walkertown; a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws; as well as a host of special friends. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, at Jefferson Church of Christ with Jerry Simpkins, Steve Cook and Peter Cain, ministers, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening, Dec. 20, at Jefferson Church of Christ and other times at her home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Stokes Partnership for Children, P.O. Box 2319, King, NC 27021 or to Jefferson Church of Christ, 8200 Jefferson Church Road, Rural Hall, NC 27045.
