GIBSONVILLE - Mary Lee Jones Pettigrew, 92 went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 12, 2017. She was a native of Alamance County and the wife of the late Grover Cleveland Pettigrew who died in 1987.
Mary Lee was employed with Burlington Industries in Greensboro, Mayfair in Burlington and before retirement was employed with Carolina Biological. She was a member of People’s Memorial Christian Church. Mary Lee enjoyed baking and working in her yard, especially growing flowers. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Survivors include her daughters, Vicki Ann Holmes of Burlington and Penny Lee Pettigrew of Burlington; son, Grover Kevin (Teri) Pettigrew of Gibsonville; grandchildren, Trip (Tammy) Walker, Maria (Phillip) Berry, Wesley Pettigrew, Macy Pettigrew, Morgan Pettigrew and Jessica Pettigrew; step grandchildren, Jimmy Holmes, David Holmes, Shannon Whitfield and Katie Summers; four great grandchildren and eight step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, Albert Onie Jones and Nettie Ross Jones; sons, Darryl Gregory( Patricia Roney) Pettigrew and Mitchell Todd Pettigrew; sisters, Evelyn Burnette, Betty Overman and Kathleen Martindale Ross; brothers, Joe, Gene, Bobby, Sam and Fred Jones.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 3:00 pm at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. John Shields and the burial will follow at Gibsonville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm-2:45 pm prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home of her son, Kevin (Teri) Pettigrew in Gibsonville.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation, 3739 National Drive, Raleigh, NC 27612 or Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
