Edith Elizabeth Bright Ireland
BURLINGTON — Edith Elizabeth Bright Ireland, 89, passed away peacefully at the Hospice Home at 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 21, 2009 with her family by her side. She had been critically ill for three weeks and in failing health for several years. She was retired from Baker-Cammack Hosiery and later worked for her husband who was with National Nabisco.
She loved the outdoors and enjoyed working in her flowers. She and her husband also raised cows and Edith always loved working with the animals. She enjoyed needle work and baking, and made many afghans for her family and friends. Edith was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Ireland; parents, Mr. and Mrs. D.W. Bright; and brothers, John Bright, Otis Bright and Howard Bright.
Survivors include her brother, Donald Bright of Graham; twin sister, Edna Glosson and older sister, Hazeline Coble, both of Burlington. She is also survived by her niece, Billie Kaye (Melvin) Martin of Burlington, and Bobby (Carolyn) Glosson of Graham, who cared for her during her illness.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Fairview United Methodist Church by the Rev. Nathan Whitman and the Rev. Neal Salter with interment to follow at the cemetery of Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church, where she was a former member. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times at the home of her niece, Billie Kaye Martin, 325 Bidney Drive, Burlington.
Edith will be greatly missed by all but we know she is in God’s hands.
