Frances Louis Reese

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Frances Reese, 85, passed away, Monday, Jan. 9, 2012 at Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012 at Bethel Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
Mrs. Reese was born Feb. 26, 1926 to the late James Monroe and Ella Woody Perry in Alamance County, North Carolina. She loved working for Dixie Belle Textiles Inc. for 39 years, where she was a dedicated seamstress. She was known to be about the hardest working person around. Mrs. Reese also loved farming and it would not be out of the ordinary to see her working on the farm until late at night. She had beautiful gardens and always enjoyed getting her hands dirty and playing in the soil.
An avid sports enthusiast, she rooted for her favorite teams, the UNC Tarheels and Atlanta Braves. Mrs. Reese’s home was always open on Sunday for anyone who wanted to come and visit and eat. She loved cooking for her friends and family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Reese was preceded in death by her husband, R.J. “Buck” Reese, and her nine siblings.
Mrs. Reese is survived by a son, Woody Reese (Ginger); daughter, Gloria Reese Mitchell; grandchildren, Aaron and Amanda Mitchell and Wesley and Whitney Reese; great-grandson, Tripp Hackett; brother, J.M. Perry (Betty Lou) of Graham, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012 at Forbis & Dick N. Elm St. Chapel.
Additionally, the family will be receiving friends at 900 Pennlo Drive, Whitsett, NC, 27377 for the next few days.
The family would like to thank the staff of Ashton Place and Beacon Place for their support and loving care.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Presbyterian Church, 300 Knox Road, McLeansville, NC 27301 or your favorite charity.
