Daphne Adele Rees Miles

McLEANSVILLE Mrs. Daphne Adele Rees Miles, age 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 1, 2010 at Ashton Place in McLeansville.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 3, 2010 at Bethel Presbyterian Church with Rev. Paul Rhodes, Rev. Ed Allred and Pastor Sue Flippin officiating.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Miles was born in McLeansville to Otts H. Rees and Opal Montgomery Rees on August 22, 1921. After graduating from McLeansville High School, she attended Montreat College. She also attended East Carolina University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts and Masters degree. She taught in the Guilford City School system for over 22 years. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, Presbyterian Women and the McLeansville Home Extension Club.

Her hobbies are sewing and cooking but her favorite enjoyment was caring for her husband and children. She was a loving and kind lady whose kindness and generosity will be long remembered.

Mrs. Miles is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Maxine Rees Perkins. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, John Benjamin Ben Miles of the home; a daughter, Lois Rose Miles of Apex; and a son, John Benjamin Ben Miles, Jr. of McLeansville; and a host of loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Ashton Place and Cone Hospital for their assistance and loving kindness showed to Mrs. Miles.

Visitation for Mrs. Miles will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Forbis and Dick North Elm Street Chapel.
