Lonnie E. Shepherd Jr.
GRAHAM — Mr. Lonnie E. Shepherd Jr., 85, of 146 Apt. C, West Crescent Square Drive, Graham, died at 1:40 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at the Hospice Home.
A native of Alamance County, he was husband of the late Mable Terrell Shepherd and son of the late Lonnie Edwin Shepherd Sr. and Maggie Terrell Shepherd. He served as a Marine during World War II in the South Pacific and was a member of Landmark Baptist Church in Burlington.
Surviving are three daughters, Shirley Summers of the home, Pat Money of Burlington and Debbie Maness of Elon; three sons, Eddie Shepherd III and wife Jeanette, Jerry Shepherd and wife Brenda and Billy Shepherd, all of Burlington; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a special friend of many years, Margaret Allison.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Becky Bowling; a son, Mike Shepherd; a granddaughter, Abbey Glosson; five sisters; and three brothers.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 22, at Alamance Memorial Park with the Rev. David Jackson and the Rev. Jonathan Graves officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday prior to the service and at other times at the residence of a granddaughter, Gena Bradsher, 2048 Fairfield Drive, Burlington.
