Obituary Online notes for Irene Bennett WYATT
Irene Wyatt Mills Lumpkins, 90, formerly of 231 South Ridge Street, Apt. 117, died Monday, July 6, 2009, at Riverside Health and Rehab Center. She was born in the Dry Fork community of Pittsylvania County on December 30, 1918 and was the daughter of the late Houston D. Wyatt and Minnie McDowell Wyatt. She was first married to Harry Mills who predeceased her and later married Eugene Lumpkins who also predeceased her.

Mrs. Lumpkins lived in the Danville area since 1973. She worked a number of years at Dan River Mills and later was employed at Callahan Cleaners and Laundry. She was of the Methodist faith.

She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Barbour Motley of Irmo, South Carolina; a son, Ray Mills and wife Judy of Blairs, Virginia; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by a son, Ralph E. Lumpkins.

A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday, July 8, 2009, 11:00 a.m., at McDowell Family Cemetery in Climax, Virginia with the Rev. Jack Robertson officiating.
