Obituary Online notes for “Nat” Nathaniel David SMALL
Nat enlisted 11 April 1863 in Company E, 45th NC Infantry. On 30 May 1864 while engaged with the enemy near Cold Harbor, Virginia, he received a gun shot wound through both upper thighs. On 2 April 1865 he was captured near Petersburg, Virginia and sent to the prisoner of war camp at Point Lookout, Maryland. He was released 20 June 1865 at war's end. Nat's parole papers described him as being 5'-11" tall with grey eyes, dark brown hair and having a dark complexion. 470, Nathaniel David “Nat” Small
