Pauline Troxler Nicks
ELON — Mrs. Pauline Troxler Nicks , 96, of 3762 Hub Mill Road, died at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Friday, Dec. 14, 2007, following a brief illness.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late A.G. Nicks and the daughter of Joseph Henry Troxler and Mable Squires Troxler , both deceased. She was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church where she was very active in the church and was a member of WSCS and a Sunday school teacher.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph Nicks of Burlington and Daniel Nicks and wife, Rebecca, of Greensboro; a daughter, Sarah Nicks Poythress and husband, Shelton, of Burlington; two sisters, Mildred Troxler Gaylord of Williamston and Betty Troxler Woody of Elon; one brother, Roger "Buddy" Troxler and wife, Tomie, of Salisbury; eight grandchildren, Lynne Nicks Carmichael and husband, Clifford, of Rocky Mount, Kimberly Nicks of Burlington, Beth Nicks Nursey and husband, Roger, of Greensboro, Mitchell Nicks and wife, Sonny, of Greensboro, Susan Kelly Hussey and husband, Michael, of High Point, Brian J. Kelly and wife, Kristen, of Burlington, Kassell E. Sykes and wife, Lisa, of Raleigh, and Joseph Sykes and wife, Janie, of Wilmington; 11 great-grandchildren, Duncan Carmichael, Sarah and Molly Hussey, Zachary, Charlotte and Mary Grace Kelly, Craig, Eric and Michelle Nursey, and Dylan and Olivia Nicks ; and two step-greatgrandchildren, Sophie Mabe and Mariah Ashley.
She was preceded in death by six brothers, Thurman, Lloyd "Red," Frank, Roger Tinnen "R.T.," Donald Melvin and Keith Grayson Troxler .
The funeral will be conducted at Fairview United Methodist Church on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Jared Hanson. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the church fellowship hall on Tuesday from noon to 2 p.m. Other times they will be at the residence.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Georgia Strickland, caregiver for seven years and Stacy Dover and Josephine Strickland for the special care given to Pauline .
