I Daniel F Clapp of the County of Guilford and State of North Carolina being of Sound and perfect mind and memory, do make publish and declare the following to be my last will and testament
1st I give devise and bequeath to my beloved wife Sarah Clapp all my estate both real and personal of evry name and description, to have and to hold to her for and during the term of her natural life
2nd At the death of my wife I allow all my estate both real and personal of evry name and description to be equally divided , between my two Children, Daniel W Clapp and John P Clapp, Share and share alike of tenants in Common.
3rd In case any of my slaves should become disobedient to my wife & unmanageable by her I hereby give her the freedom and privilege to sell any such slave or slaves, and to hold the purchase money to her own use during the term of her natural life, after which I allow the same to be devided among my two Sons as above specified.
4 My wish and desire is for both of my Sons to secure a good education such as will qualify them for business and usefulness in life and if my farm and the alters increase of my estate, will not amount to a sufficiency for that purpose and the Comfortable support of the family I allow my wife to sell such portion of my personal estate as she can best spare for the purpose of educating my Children
I hereby Constitute and appoint my beloved wife Sarah sole executor of my last will and testament to execute the same according to the true intent and meaning of the same and according to law
In testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal this 28th day of September A D 1864
