WHITSETT — James Boyd Greeson, age 76, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at Alamance Regional Medical Center. Boyd was a native of Guilford County and the husband of 54 years to Betsy Willson Greeson who survives.
Boyd retired from Summit Credit Union in Greensboro and was employed for several years with Wachovia Bank in Charlotte and later Greensboro. He was a member of the Gibsonville United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Lillie Wharton Sunday School Class. Boyd volunteered with the American Red Cross, Meals on Wheels of Alamance County and Loaves and Fishes Christian Food Ministry. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Betsy Willson Greeson of the home; daughter, Brenda Greeson Shore and her husband, Ben of Raleigh; son, Howard Vance Greeson and his wife, Cheryl of Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts; grandchildren, Cameron Blake Shore, Carter Thomas Shore, Emma Kristine Greeson and Caleb Samuel Greeson. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Vance Greeson and Cathey Hinshaw Greeson.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Gibsonville United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jonathan Marlowe and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.The family will receive friends from 9:45 until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church and other times at the residence.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Gibsonville United Methodist Church, 501 Church St., Gibsonville, NC 27249.
