Albert was a son of John Rankin and Annie Underwood Shepherd. He was married to Sirphronia W. Day Miller Shepherd, who is buried at Guilford Memorial Park. They had two sons: Albert John Miller and Walter Alton Miller. (Went by last name of Sirphronia's first husband, for whatever reason.) Albert was a tilesetter, and liked to hang around Dred Ward's store on Burlington Rd. a lot. He was a good person, though he loved his beer. He had a brother Everett L. Shepherd, (buried at Guilford Memorial Park). Note: Albert would be a distant cousin to Herbert Coble Shepherd and his siblings.)
