 GIBSONVILLE — Lucille Tickle Calligan, 89, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at Liberty Commons Nursing Center after a brief illness.
 
 She was married to the late John Parker Calligan and was born Nov. 29, 1923 in Guilford County to the late Quint and Lydia Lowe Tickle. Lucille was a registered nurse who had worked at Moses Cone Hospital and later at Alamance Memorial and Alamance County Hospitals. She was a member of Brightwood Christian Church and enjoyed gardening.
 
 Survivors include her sister, Willie Mae Morgan and her husband Edsel of Gibsonville; brother, Robert Tickle of Whitsett and several nieces, nephews and her beloved dog Daisy Mae.
 
 She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a son, Charles Parker Calligan; sisters; Ruth Martin and Grace Crenshaw; brothers, Burley Tickle, Earl Tickle, Henry Tickle, Woodrow Tickle and John “J.Q.” Tickle.
 
 The funeral will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11 at Brightwood Christian Church by the Rev. Ricky Cox. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.
 
 The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. and at other times at the home of her sister, 111 Brightwood Church Road in Gibsonville.
 
 Memorials may be made to Hospice of Alamance-Caswell, 918 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215 or Brightwood Christian Church, 300 Kivett House Road, Gibsonville, NC 27249.
 
 The family would like to say thank you to Hospice of Alamance-Caswell caregivers and the rest of Lucille’s caregivers for the past year.
