GIBSONVILLE – Thelma Holt Lowe, 89, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Moses Cone Hospital.
A native of Guilford County, she was born October 6, 1927 to the late Charlie Gilmer Holt, Sr., and Ethel Livvie Ingle Holt and was the wife of the late Perry Ernest Lowe, Jr.
Thelma was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church where she served in many capacities. She was a secretary for the Church Sunday School and a member of the Powlas Group where she served as treasurer for over 50 years. She was an avid sports fan and UNC Tarheel fan.
Survivors include her daughter, Susan Gillespie of Winston Salem; son, Perry Lowe III of Gibsonville; sister, Ella Holt Apple of Burlington; grandchildren, George Gillespie, Thomas Gillespie (Sarah), John Gillespie, Bailey Lowe; great grandson, George Gillespie and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Friedens Lutheran Church by Pastor Bill Zima with the burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. on Saturday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Friedens Lutheran Church General Fund, 6001 North Carolina Hwy 61 N, Gibsonville, NC 27249.
