Earl Everette Toombs
BURLINGTON — Earl Everette Toombs, age 66, of Christopher Drive, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2008. He was a native of Rockingham County, and the husband of Sandra Jones Toombs, who survives.
Earl retired from Copland Fabrics and was of the Baptist faith. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family. His nephews and niece referred to him affectionately as "Unna".
Survivors include his wife of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Shannon Carver and her husband, Dale, of Burlington; grandchildren, Kerri Carver and her special friend, Joe Seay, and Hannah Carver; sisters and brothersin-law, Geneva Neal and her husband, Ben, Kay Troxler and her husband, Melvin, Patricia Hensley and her husband, Tommy, all of Burlington, Ruby Mathis of Elon; twin brother, Gerald Toombs and his wife, Judy, of Burlington; brothers and sisters-in-law, David Stallings and his wife, Sandra, of Lexington, Fred Stallings and his wife, Tracey, of Reidsville, Robert Stallings and his wife, Brenda, of Graham; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny Leslie Toombs and Alice Virginia Harrington Toombs Stallings and a stepfather, Jimmy Stallings; sister, Wilma Stallings.
The funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at 4 p.m. at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Jimmy Holland, the Rev. Frank Jones and Pastor Wayne Jones. Burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home, and other times at the residence or at the daughter’s home, 934 Boone Road, Burlington, N.C. 27217.
