Dorothy Frye Barker


BURLINGTON – Dorothy Mae Frye Barker, 90, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
A native of Moore County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd Thomas and Hattie Sutton Frye and wife of the late Billy Harold Barker.

She was retired from Annedeen Hosiery and a member of Union Ridge Church. One of her proudest moments was when she went back to school and received her GED at age 70.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her sons, Gary Barker and wife, Linda, of Burlington and Larry Barker and wife, Kay, of Winston-Salem; five grandchildren, Elaine Barker, Thomas Barker, Alan Barker, Anna Katherine Barker and Will Barker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Tom Frye; sisters, Gladys Allred and Ila Frye; half brothers, Charles Frye and Robert Frye; and a half sister, Annie Freeman.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Union Ridge Church by Rev. Dan Ficklin.
Interment will follow at Stoney Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Mrs. Barker will remain at Lowe Funeral Home until being taken to the church for services. The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory from 5 - 7 p.m. Friday evening.
The family would like to thank the 8th floor palliative care staff at Forsyth Medical Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union Ridge Church.
