Herbert Lester Whitfield, 88, of Burlington, passed away Friday, January 21, 2022 at the Hospice Home in Burlington.
Mr. Whitfield is the husband of Nancy May Roney Whitfield, who survives, and the son of the late Lester Whitfield and the late Maggie Long Whitfield.
Mr. Whitfield retired as a mill worker after 32 years.
Mr. Whitfield is a member of Faith Christian Church, where he attended services and Sunday School class.
In addition to his wife, Nancy Mae Roney Whitfield, of the home; he is survived by two step-sons, Donald Aldridge of Atlanta, GA, Michael Thomas of Kernersville, NC; sisters, Linda Allen and her husband, Woody, of Burlington, Sadie Roach of Burlington, Jean Walker of Roxboro; brother, Herman Whitfield and his wife Carol, of Mebane; five step-grandchildren, Brandon, Jordan, Chase, Rebecca and Katie; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Whitfield was preceded in death by seven sisters, Ethel Whitfield, Doris Coleman, Lorraine Matkins, Mae Lowe, Bea Jenkins, Kayte Newton and Frances Barber; and two brothers, Raymond Whitfield and Melvin Whitfield.
The family will receive friends Thursday, January 27, from 12:30 until 1:30 PM at Rich and Thompson Funeral Service in Burlington.
The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM in the Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington, officiating will be the Rev. Reid Dickens. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.
