Norma Gray Brown Gordon
MCLEANSVILLE — Norma Gray Brown Gordon, age 73, of Friendship Church Road, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Irvin Clay Gordon and daughter of the late Eura Brooks and Lillian Jane Hensley Brown. She retired from the City of Greensboro as a property researcher. She was a member of Apple’s Chapel Christian Church, was involved with the Geneological Society and was an avid gardener.
Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia “Cindy” Kernodle and husband Barry of McLeansville; sons, Andrew “Andy” Gordon and wife Donna of Greensboro and Hugh Gordon and wife Sherry of McLeansville; six grandchildren, Justin and wife Ashley Kernodle, Brandon Kernodle, Brittany and Brant Gordon and Jared and Ian Gordon; sisters, Evelyn Curl and husband Bob of Burlington and Margaret Swaney and husband Jim of McLeansville.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Apple’s Chapel Christian Church by the Rev. Richard Wright. Interment will follow in Apple’s Chapel Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Gordon will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory until being taken to Apple’s Chapel Church on Wednesday afternoon where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. At other times the family will be at the home of her daughter, Cindy and Barry Kernodle, 7081 Friendship Church Road, McLeansville.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Baptist Medical Center for their care through their mother’s battle with leukemia.
