Obituary Online notes for Rev. James Cameron STORY
James Cameron Story was born 17 Sept. 1868, in Guilford County, NC, the tenth of eleven children born to William Riley Story and Isabella Jane Summers. An account of his lineage, written by him in 1939, can be found at: http://genforum.genealogy.com/story/messages/1423.html
I will add that I believe that James Story, who married Elizabeth Sain, mentioned in his account, was a son of James Storey who died in Rowan County, NC in 1762, the 5th great grandfather of the writer of this account.

Reverend Story was educated for the ministry at Catawba College, Davidson College and at Union Theological Seminary. He was ordained to the ministry in 1902. I am not certain where he preached prior to 1911, but at that point, he came from Lawton, Oklahoma to Marion, NC, where he was installed as the pastor of the first Presbyterian Church, and his pastorate continued for 23 1/2 years. Among the many accomplishments of his ministry were the building of a beautiful new church, built in 1922/3, and still in use by the congregation; and the establishment of four mission churches in the countryside: Clinchfield, Conley Memorial, Landis Chapel, and West Marion (now known as Story Memorial). It was to assume the pastorates of two of these mission churches that he left the Marion church in 1934.

A memorial tribute read by Dr. Carl W. McMurray, his successor in the Marion Church at the Presbytery in April 1945: "His work in Marion was notable and outstanding. Thought his zealous pastoral work and faithful gospel preaching the church grew in numbers and spiritual vitality. He laid a strong foundation for future growth and development of the church in Marion, and at the same time he reached out to organize and build churches in outlying communities. Brother Story was utterly faithful to the fundamentals of the Gospel. He was a man of prayer, and his pastoral labors were beyond compare. Hundreds of homes beyond his own congregation remember his visits, and his personal work among the unsaved is still bearing fruit. Already his ministry has become a bright chapter in the religious life of the county where he labored longest." (From a history of the First Presbyterian Church of Marion, written by Miss Elsie Hedley House in 1963).

Rev. Story married Miss Zipporah Zahida Reynolds (c.1872-1963, daughter of Joseph Allen Reynolds and Mary Ann Hurley), circa 1897, and they had six children (per the 1910 census, one had died). The known children were: Joseph Reynolds Story (c.1899), Samuel D. Story (c.1901), Paul Jackson Story (21 Oct. 1904-1981, m. Helen Virginia Goldsmith), Williiam R. Story(c.1908) and Miriam Story (21 Oct. 1913).
