July 25, 1937 - September 12, 2014
Roy E. Stubblefield, 77, passed away surrounded by his loving family on September 12, 2014. Roy was very proud of his service, to our country, in the United States Navy. He will always be remembered for his love of family, animals, children, being a loving husband, caring father, grandfather, uncle & special friend. He enjoyed cooking and being with friends and family.
Roy is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Shirley Stubblefield, daughters; Ann Denton, Debra Stubblefield, and Sandra Eason, sons; Henry Stubblefield and Randy Stubblefield, sister, Peggy Flinchum, brother, John Stubblefield, 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brother, Lee Stubblefield and sister, Elise Mae Chester, great-grandson, Keola Denton.
A Celebration of Life will be on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 2 p.m., Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 St. Mary's St., Raleigh. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 2p.m. in the Wynne Center. Military honors will be presented. Roy always spoke of himself as "Hanai" meaning an adopted Hawaiian where he met his wife & soulmate, Shirley.... "Aloha-until we meet again".
