ELON – Richard Lee Shoe, 77, passed away suddenly while on vacation Saturday, January 14th in Ft. Pierce, FL.
He was born in Alamance County to the late Louis Henry and Vallie Ingle Shoe and was married to Sandra Madren Shoe for 55 years.
Richard retired as Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Carolina Biological Supply after 42 years of service.
He was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church and enjoyed traveling with his wife.
He loved all types of sports especially Elon University basketball and baseball. He played softball for years and was known as “stretch” for his play at first base. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family. One of his greatest joys was traveling to watch his grandchildren play sports. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife; daughter, Cinde Shoe and wife Gina Rhew; son, Michael Shoe and wife Jolee; grandchildren, Abigail Shoe, Sam Shoe; brother, Larry Shoe and wife Sherri Foster; niece, Stephanie Temple and nephew Ryan Shoe.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will receive friends 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. and at other times at the home.
There will be a private service at a later date.
In lieu flowers memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
