Edna Gerringer Cobb

GIBSONVILLE, NC — Edna Earl Gerringer Cobb, a lifelong resident of Gibsonville, NC, died peacefully Wednesday, April 20, 2016.

Edna is survived by her daughter, Patsy Cobb Bartis and husband Steve; brothers, Carl Gerringer Sr. and wife Linda, E.R. Gerringer and wife Belle, and Bobby Gerringer, all of Gibsonville; grandchildren, Wendy Martin Perry of Hickory, NC and Jeffrey Scott Martin and wife Nancy, of Leland, NC; great-grandchildren, Addison Kenley and Preston James Martin, also of Leland, NC.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Douglas Cobb; parents, Edward and Florence Gerringer; and sisters, Vera Gerringer Taunt and Willie Francis Gerringer Clapp.

Edna was born, Sept. 16, 1924, to Edward and Florence Gerringer of Gibsonville, NC. Edna, along with her husband Doug and daughter Patsy shared a love of horses, and she was a regular participant in local parades with her beloved Rebel. She loved to cook, and shared recipes with her family, anything from banana pudding to peanut butter and Karo syrup on toast. She was employed by Twin Lakes Nursing Center and devoted herself to the care of her mother and others for many years. After retirement, she enjoyed fellowship with her friends and neighbors at the Gibsonville Village Senior Apartment complex. She was a lifelong member of Gibsonville Christian Church, and until which time she lost her sight, spent many hours reading her devotions and Bible. She was a natural musician, and could play both piano and guitar by ear. While she couldn’t read music, she found beautiful harmonies as an alto and sang often with her brother, Bobby, in church.

Edna loved to spend time with her family, and particularly enjoyed her time with her greatgrandchildren, Addison and Preston, who called her Granny. They always brightened her spirits and she adored their laughter. She will be missed greatly, and remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and friend.

The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude and appreciation to Chip Lacey-Sellars and Chrissy Oldham, and the staff at Peak Resources of Alamance County. A special, heartfelt thank you to Latoya Rogers, Nurse Practitioner with Evercare, who oversaw six years of dedicated care.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Omega Funeral Service at 11 a.m. Monday, April 25th, and the family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m.

Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Full Gospel Tabernacle, 109 Webster Road, Graham, NC 27253. 3, Edna Gerringer Cobb
