Ginger Smith Jarrett
Ginger Smith Jarrett passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 surrounded by her family.

Ginger was born in Greensboro, NC on September 19, 1946 as the only daughter of Ruby Hill and James Freeman Smith, both deceased.

She was also preceded in death by her high school sweetheart and husband of 50 years, Coy R. Jarrett and her younger son, Christopher R. Jarrett and Matt Younger, who was like a third son to her.

She is survived by her son, James Jarrett and his wife Kelly of Albemarle and the love of her life, her precious granddaughter, Leela. She felt so fortunate to have Beverly Qualters as the daughter that she never had and Carol Younger, a special friend in her life, along with many other dear friends.

Ginger spent her professional career in various customer service management positions, retiring from American Express. She would speak of her friends, colleagues, and associates as though they were family. Following her retirement, she volunteered at Cone Health. She also served on the Gibsonville Board of Aldermen for 12 years, as a board member, mayor pro-tem and mayor. Ginger was also active with the Gibsonville Senior Citizens in AIA. She enjoys traveling with this group as well as attending their various weekly activities. Ginger will be remembered as a kind, caring, positive, and helpful wife, mother Gamma and friend to many.

Ginger was a lifelong member of Gibsonville United Methodist Church. Her church family was instrumental in supporting her through numerous medical issues and the loss of her loved ones. Ginger was also actively involved in the Wharton Sunday School Class, Care & Share and the Women of Faith. Every time Ginger heard of someone in that group being ill, having a birthday or experiencing a loss, she would send them a card. She was always willing to lend a helping hand when it was needed and was willing to serve as well as lead on many committees at church. Ginger loved her family and friends dearly and enjoyed helping others and reading. In addition, Ginger loved to decorate her house for every season and holiday and watch every football and basketball game on the television, especially if UNC was playing.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at the Rich and Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Burlington at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2025 by Rev. Carol P. Carkin. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice or to the Gibsonville United Methodist Church.
