Madren, Raymond Gerald "The Can Man", 78, of St. Petersburg, died Saturday, November 30, 2013, at Bon Secours Maria Manor. Born in Burlington, North Carolina, he came here in 1969 from High Point, NC. He was a US Navy veteran having served during the Korea Conflict. He was a member of Wallace Masonic Lodge #595 AF&AM in Wallace, NC. He was a member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Greensboro and the Egypt Temple Shrine in Tampa, FL. He was a radio announcer for 30 years and program director for WSUN in St. Petersburg. After radio, he was a real estate salesman for Selby Real Estate in St. Petersburg. He also worked as a jewelry salesman in both Daytona Beach, FL and Live Oak, FL. He was also a greeter at Wal-Mart in Live Oak until his can collecting became his priority. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary E. Madren. He is survived by his daughter, Donna M. (Kenneth) Johnson of St. Petersburg; his grandson, Kenneth W. (Angela) Johnson Jr. of Seminole; his grandson, Jeremy L. (Kelly) Johnson of Williston, FL; and five great grandchildren, Hunter Johnson, Drew Johnson, Kaylynn Johnson, Tristan Johnson, and Aiden Johnson. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Masonic Home of Florida, 3201 First Street NE, St. Petersburg, FL 33704.
