Harold Wayne Madren


    GIBSONVILLE — Harold Wayne Madren, age 74, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 23, 2012, at the Hospice Home surrounded by his family. Wayne was a native of Alamance County and the husband of 50 years to Patricia “Pat” King Madren who survives.
    Wayne retired after 31 years with the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of Altamahaw Baptist Church where he served as an usher and Sunday School teacher for the Adult Men’s class. He also played the guitar and sang for services at his church. Wayne served in the U.S. Navy and was proud of his service to his country. He volunteered with Meals on Wheels of Alamance County.Wayne enjoyed his coworkers and they went on golf outings and trips together. He was an avid fisherman and a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
    Survivors include his wife, Pat King Madren of the home; sons, Shawn Madren and his wife, Louise of Snow Camp and Joe Madren and his wife, Tena of Elon; daughter, Tracey Overman and her husband, Bo of Burlington; grandchildren, Kennedy Madren, Daniell Madren (Timothy) Shaver, Kayle Madren, David Vizena, Devin Vizena and Jordan Overman; brother, Allen Mays and his wife, Diane of Graham. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Woodrow Madren and Carnell Saunders Madren Mays; and stepfather,
Marshall Golden Mays.
    A service to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Altamahaw Baptist Church by Dr. Steve Tucker and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. Military honors will be provided at the graveside by the U.S. Navy. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Monday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
