Charles Wesley Summers
January 7, 1935 - January 15, 2017

Mr. Charles Wesley Summers, 82, passed away on Sunday morning, January 15, 2017, at the Blumenthal Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Summers’ funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, at First Baptist Church of Summerfield with Rev. Roger Barricks, Rev. Larry Kirby and Rev. Derrick Moody officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends at the church beginning at 1:00 p.m.

A Guilford County native, Mr. Summers was born on January 7, 1935, the son of the late Henry F. and Freda Cagle Summers. Charles was a member of First Baptist Church of Summerfield and the Agape Sunday School Class. He owned and operated Summers Striping and Summers Distributing Companies. He loved being busy and living on the farm. He attended NC State University and was an avid Wolfpack fan. On October 4, 1958, he married Carolyn Smith.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Carolyn S. Summers of the home; nephew Wayne Phillips and his wife, Doris of Wilmington, NC; brothers-in-law Charles Smith and his wife, Sandy of Gibsonville and Thomas Smith of Welcome, NC; long-time and special friends Ethel and James Boozer and Martha and Larry Clayton all of Summerfield; as well as his caregiver Betty Wilson of Stokesdale. He was preceded in death by a brother Paul Summers and a sister Helen Hall.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Richard Aronson and staff at Guilford Medical Associates for care “above and beyond” when caring for Mr. Summers.
