GREENSBORO — Mrs. Onell Weaver Summers passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2009, at the Masonic Care and Wellness Center. She was 84.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, at Emmanuel Wesleyan Church, 3235 Yanceyville Street. The Rev. Ray Thomas will officiate. Interment will be at 1 p.m. at Lakeview Memorial Park.
Onell was a lifelong resident of Greensboro. She was a wonderful, loving mother and homemaker. She always put her family first. In past years she loved salt water fishing at the Outer banks of North Carolina.
She was predeceased by her husband, Herman M. Summers, her high school sweetheart and the love of her life; her mother, Ellie P. Meadows, father, James C. Weaver and sister, Ruth Blake.
She is survived by her only child, Susan Singer and husband, Jim; her grandson, Brent Lombardo and wife, Cindy, and great-grandchildren, Nicole and Brandon; her brothers, James C. Weaver, Jr. and wife, Betty, Robert Weaver and wife, Becky, and many special nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Billie Davern, Mary Summers, Juanita Summers and Ann Summers; brother-in-law, Edward Summers; her special extended families, Lisa Costner and husband, Bob, and son, Sean; Dan Singer and wife, Pat, and children, Chris, Tony and Genna; and Laurie Peel and husband, Chrish, and children, Grace and Singer.
