Mr. Edward C. Summers
Greensboro – Edward C. Summers, born February 10, 1924, the fifth son of Bart H. and Maude May Summers, died May 10, 2012 at Morningview Assisted Living, 3200 N. Elm Street, Greensboro, NC.

Ed graduated from Rankin High School in 1941 and from Kings Point Merchant Marine Academy in December 1946. He served in the Merchant Marines until 1952.
Ed was on active duty during World War II aboard cargo ships and traveled all over the world.

Ed worked at J.D. Summers Construction Company for twenty years and enjoyed many years in business as Summers Realty where he attained the Designation of Accredited Farm and Land Member. Ed enjoyed many activities in the outdoors: hunting, fishing and golfing.

He is survived by: son Dan Edward Summers and wife Dorothy, grandchildren Michael, Kevin, and Ellen, all of Naples, FL; sister, Billie Jean Summers Davern, sisters-in-law Mary Summers and Juanita Summers of Greensboro, NC. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Mark Perini, the staff of Morningview Assisted Living and Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro for their help in caring for our uncle.

A memorial service, conducted by Dr. Benjamin Williams, will be held at Memorial Presbyterian Church on Saturday May 19, 2012 at 1:00 PM
