Obituary Online notes for Andrew Roland SIMMONS
Mr. Andrew Roland Simmons, 88, former resident of Westchester Manor died Sunday evening in Westchester Harbour.
Mr. Simmons was born Sept. l8, l923 in Caswell County, son of William E. Simmons Sr. and Hattie Elizabeth Hill Simmons. He had been a resident of High Point most of his life, retired in 1985 from Wyson Mills and was later employed with Western Guilford High School for 7 years retiring in 1991. Mr. Simmons was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Navy and a member of The Church at High Point where he was an elder for the past 40 years.
He was married on Nov. 23, 1945 to Nancy M. Freeman Simmons who preceded him in death of Sept. 24, 2009.
Surviving are l Son; Ronald David Simmons and wife Patty Ann of Hickory and l daughter; Toni Simmons Carico and husband Willard of Sophia; 1 Sister; Virginia Carper of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee ; 5 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren. Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by a son James Franklin Simmons, a brother W.E. Simmons, Jr., and sister-in-law Helen Simmons.
Funeral Services will be conducted Friday at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service on Eastchester Dr. by Elder Barney and Ricky Yaskiewicz. Interment will follow in the Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service.
Memorials may be directed to the Salvation Army, 301 W. Green Dr. High Point, N.C. 27260 or Donor's choice. The family would like to thank the staff of Westchester Manor and Westchester Harbour for the care Mr. Simmons received.
Following the service the family will be at the home of the granddaughter Misty Roberts, 216 Edgedale Dr. High Point.
