Obituary for James David 'J.D.' Summers, Jr.
James David ‘J.D.’ Summers, Jr., 75, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 9, 2015.
A private graveside service will be held on Thursday.
A native of Guilford County, Mr. Summers was born on August 4, 1940, the only child of the late James D. Summers, Sr. and Sara Harris Summers. He grew up in Summerfield, played football at Summerfield High School, and went on to NC State University. Following graduation from NCSU he began what was to become a successful career in commercial construction. On June 15, 1963, he married June Hudson.
Surviving are his wife of fifty-two years, June H. Summers of the home; daughters Carol Smith and her husband, Chris, of Summerfield and Elizabeth Overton of Raleigh; and 3 grandchildren Nate Smith, Katie Smith, and Olivia Overton.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Forbis & Dick-Stokesdale.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan’s Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
