She attended Greensboro Senior High School where she met her husband of 60 years, Richard Harrison Rothrock. Together they had 3 children. Jesus Christ was her Lord and Savior. She enjoyed many Bible Studies throughout the years and was a graduate of BFS, a seven year bible fellowship study.
Shirley was dedicated to her community. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels and the Greensboro’s Chamber of Commerce. She was co-founder and Queen Mother for the first Red Hat Chapter in Greensboro, called the Shrinking Violets.
Shirley loved her friends and family. Her children and her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was an avid bridge player. She was in a bridge club for 42 years and was a member of the First and Third. She enjoyed traveling and was the founder of her beloved Girl’s Beach Group. She was also a writer and story teller. Her slow southern draw would captivate any audience. Her quick wit, generous spirit, and inner strength made her a friend to all. She will truly be missed.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the Moses Cone Cancer Center, the caregivers at the Beacan House, Pastor Mitch and his staff at Centenary, and the multitude of caring family and friends that made her last days peaceful and full of love.
Shirley asked that any memorial contributions would be made to Hospice Palliative Care of Greensboro or Saint Jude’s Hospital. 470, Shirley Jean Summers Rothrock
