Bobbie Jean Shaw Crawford (aka Bobba), 94, passed into a greater joy on April 24, 2025.
She was a wife, daughter, mother, grandparent and friend who tried to live her life by the lesson she was taught growing up: “to whom much is given, much is required.”
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joseph Otis Crawford Jr., her son, Joseph Roy Crawford, and her sister, Mary Louise Carpenter.
She was a life-long Greensboro resident and studied piano at Greensboro College. She taught piano for 25 years while being married, raising 4 children, multiple animals, and living in a 4-generation household, which included her own family, her mother, and 2 grandmothers. She then joined and became active in the family business, Fleming-Shaw Transfer & Storage Company, until her retirement.
She was a faithful member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, serving as a Sunday school teacher, elder, and choir member. She also was a guardian-ad-litem for the Guilford County Court system after her retirement, a volunteer poll worker and part-time employee of the Guilford County Board of Elections. In her later years she had a letter-writing prison ministry.
She is survived by her daughters Deborah McCain, Sandra Pfeifer, and Catherine Dorsey, 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and a special niece and nephew, Michaelle Moore and Scott Carpenter, as well as a large extended family.
Her daughters would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Westminster Church family for their love, visits, support and prayers to our mother over the past years as her health declined.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, May 24 at 1:00 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 3906 West Friendly Avenue, Greensboro.
