Mrs. Lucille Clapp Oakley
PLEASANT GARDEN — Mrs. Lucille Clapp Oakley, 90, formerly of N.C. 61 East, died Wednesday, December 3, 2008, at Clapp’s Assisted Living after several years of declining health.
A native of Guilford County, she was the daughter of the late Charles "Charlie" Clapp and the late Nancy Smith Clapp and was married to the late Woodrow Warren Oakley, who died in 1983. She was a former employee of Dixie-Belle Textiles and was a member of Brick Reformed United Church of Christ.
Mrs. Oakley is survived by a niece, Hazel C. Roberts of Whitsett; and several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a sister, Berdia K. Clapp; a brother, Harvey L. Clapp; and a niece, Emma Faye Ammons.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 6, 2008, at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Kristin Gerner Vaughn. Interment will be in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends following the service in the chapel, and other times at the home of Bennie Gerner, 2907 Mt. Hope Church Road.
