 BURLINGTON — Richard Vernon Kernodle, Sr, age 79, of Lone Oak Rd., passed away Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Duke Medical Center.
 
 A native of Guilford County, he was the son of the late Andrew Bruce and Ruthie Westbook Kernodle and husband of Betty Jean Ward Kernodle who survives.
 
 He was a member of Pilgrim’s Chapel Baptist Church and was retired from Cummins Diesel in Greensboro after 29 years of service.
 
 Richard is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Ward Kernodle of the home; sons, Richard Vernon Kernodle, Jr. and wife Tammy of Pittsboro and Randy Lee Kernodle and wife Trudy of Burlington. Grandchildren T.J. Kernodle, Kim Hauser and Lisa Kernodle; great grandchild, Abigail Hauser; sisters, Almera “Tuppy”
 
K. Gammon and husband Pete, Louise K. Mansfield all of Burlington, Mildred
 
K. Gwynn and husband Johnny of Gibsonville and Sallie Barbee; brothers,
 
Pety Kernodle of Indianapolis, IN and Junie Kernodle of Augusta, Ga.
 
 A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Tuesday, November 11, 2014 in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Mike Jones. Intombment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum. Mr. Kernodle will remain at Lowe Funeral Home through the funeral service. The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home from 6-8pm Monday and at their residence at other times.
