Martha Rice Simmons Hamlett
YANCEYVILLE- Martha Rice Simmons Hamlett, 85, of 3089 Marshall Graves Rd., Yanceyville, NC, went to be with the Lord Friday, July 29, 2016 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro, NC.
A native of Caswell County, she was a daughter of the late Stephen N. and Sadie Pegram Rice and had lived her entire life in Caswell County. She was a farmer and a retired manager of the cafeteria at Anderson School, and was a member of Baynes Baptist Church. Her whole world revolved around her family and she loved each and every one of them. She was a huge NC State Sports fan and enjoyed reading.
Martha was preceded in death by her husbands; Thomas Aaron Simmons, and William Coy Hamlett and a sister; Betty R. Cobb.
Survivors include: sons; Thomas Simmons and wife Beth of Reidsville, Randy Simmons and wife Laura of Shelby, daughters; Sandra S. Tate and husband Ken of Fuquay Varina, Shari S. DeStefano and husband Butch of Davidson, sisters; Kathleen R. Aldridge and husband Bobby of Yanceyville, Grey R. Smith of Elon, and Janice R. Vernon and husband Cyrus of Yanceyville, grandchildren; Susan Fike (Ben), Aaron Simmons, Bryan Simmons, Ross Simmons (Aubrey), Jessica Cornwell (James), Thomas DeStefano and Nicole DeStefano, greatgrandchildren; Harrison Fike, Stephen Cornwell, Parker Fike and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to the charity of the donor’s choice. The family will see friends 6 to 8 P.M. Friday, August 5, 2016 at Citty Funeral Home and at other times will be at the residence: 3089 Marshall Graves Rd., Yanceyville, Thursday, August 4, 2016 until the time of the service.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 A.M. Saturday, August 6, 2016, at Baynes Baptist Church. Burial will be in Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
