Obituary for Ronald Dewitt Teachey Sr.
Ronald Dewitt Teachey Sr., 87, of Pleasant Garden, NC was called to Christ on Friday, June 30th, 2023 at Moses Cone Hospital with his loving family by his side. Ronald was born on February 9th, 1936 to Roscoe Dewitt Teachey and Janie Dorsett Teachey.
He would go on to achieve a family of his own after marrying his high school sweetheart, Peggy Ann Crymes. Ronald and Peggy were married for 54 years and in this time together, raised three beautiful children and shared many travels as a family.
A graduate of Guilford College and UNCG, Ronald began his career as a teacher and coach at Southeast Guilford High School. He is also recognized for his respected role as Principal of Pleasant Garden Elementary where he was a mentor to many students and teachers. Ronald was also a faithful servant at Pleasant Garden Methodist Church. He embraced a true love for the Lord through scripture, music, and daily life. He would often attend services, perform volunteer work in the community, and embrace joy in fellowship. Throughout his career, family, and religious devotion, Ronald created many lasting friendships. He often traveled to Harker’s Island with his buddies to fish as far as the Gulf Stream. After retirement, he and Peggy spent many summers at Emerald Isle, NC where they each pursued their hobbies and interests. Ronald enjoyed reading, surf fishing, exploring historical sites and playing guitar. Ronald was an inspiration to those around him, leaving a legacy of hard work, integrity, and leadership.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Peggy, son Norman Conrad Teachey, and daughter-in-law Laura Galloway Teachey.
He is survived by his brother Dan Teachey of Phoenix, AZ; daughter Dell Teachey Riggins (John) and son Ronald D. Teachey Jr. (Pam). He had 8 grand children and 11 great-grand children.
Ronald will forever remain in our hearts and he will be deeply missed. The family will receive friends and loved ones at Forbis & Dick Funeral Service - Pleasant Garden Chapel from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, July 7th, 2023. A memorial service will be held at Pleasant Garden Methodist Church on Saturday, July 8th, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. Burial immediately following at church cemetery.
